The Journey of Remmy
I then launched Crafted by Remmy, an initiative designed to create an inclusive workplace for extraordinary individuals living with disabilities. This isn’t just any workplace; it is a space where people can showcase their talents, gain independence, and contribute to society.
At Crafted by Remmy, everyone is welcomed and supported. They make new friends, learn new skills, and discover new opportunities. This initiative opens up a world of possibilities, demonstrating that everyone, regardless of their abilities, can make a significant impact.
As a local mother of a child living with a disability, I saw the opportunity to create more support in our growing seaside town. I founded Remmy in 2019, a place dedicated to helping families and friends who face unique challenges. I believe that everyone has special talents and dreams, and with the right support, they can achieve great things.
Many parents and carers in Ulladulla were striving to provide the best for their loved ones, but often feeling isolated in their efforts. When they discovered Remmy, they found a supportive community that became a source of strength and inspiration, reminding them that they are not alone.
When the opportunity arose to relocate our social centre, I saw more than just a new space, I saw potential. Potential to grow, to reach more people, and to create an environment that truly reflected our values. I believe that this space would allow us to expand our programs, welcome more participants, and open our doors to the wider community.
This new space is inclusive, accessible, and inspiring. It gives us the ability to offer more hands-on activities, creative workshops, and meaningful social connections. But just as importantly, it allowed us to share our environment with the community, creating a venue hire location where connection and inclusion could happen naturally every day.
By bringing people together in one welcoming space, we are not only supporting individuals living with disabilities, we are building a stronger, more connected community where everyone feels they belong.
My vision was clear: "At Remmy, we nurture exceptional people to support extraordinary people." Together, we built a brighter, more inclusive future where everyone has the chance to thrive.
The journey of Remmy and Crafted by Remmy and now the Remmy River Centre, shows that with compassion, support, and a shared vision, a community can create a world where everyone is valued and empowered.
None of this would have been possible without the exceptional people who stand beside me every day. Our staff are the heart of Remmy — dedicated, compassionate, and deeply committed to the participants they support. Their kindness, creativity, and unwavering belief in what we do have shaped Remmy into the community it is today.
